04-11-08 Happy Birthday Nanette!
Two whole years and she is fit as a fiddle. No reherniation. No ongoing issues. What a precious miracle she is!
This site was started when Silas was born on 04-10-06. He had complications and was placed on ECMO, a heart/lung bypass machine. He spent his first 7 weeks at Legacy Emanuel NICU in Portland, OR fighting for his life. This is his story of survival and the continuing saga of the Kyne's as told through the eyes of Mom and Grammy. I am so grateful that God afforded me time to get to know you and time for you to know us. I love you, my son.
Becky, mommy to Joshua (who spent 6 months in the NICU and a few months at home before leaving this earth), spent a month with us. We went to the coast for a visit and took Becky in tow.

I love this picture with his reflection in the wet sand. I took about 10 pictures to finally capture it. This boy does NOT sit still.

------------------------- It was a beautiful day.

------------- Silas, Savannah, Jerusha and Becky.
Savannah takes everyone for a ride... CLEAR THE ROADS!!! Just kidding, she did a very good job.
Again Savannah is giving rides.
Jerusha rode with another Mom since I had a severe sinus/ear infection for a week...lucky them.
Micah gets a overview before hopping in.
Savannah had so much fun and was so excited that she almost forgot to take pictures while she was up.
This is one she managed to take before the pilot did a 90 degree turn.
Couldn't resist taking a picture of the sleeping man. He is so rarely this quiet, it seems a miracle that he even CAN sleep.
------------------------- This little piggy...
Look at all that shaggy hair. Will we ever be able to cut it?
YES! After 45 minutes of screaming, crying, laughing, shouting, spraying Mommy in the face with a water bottle, hitting the hairdresser, eating spoonfuls of honey, etc., We had done it. Thank you Carla!! And a huge apology to all the other clients in the salon.
This was Christmas 2007:
My dad got all the boys air-soft guns.
Jerusha and her new keyboard.
Silas loves his rocking horse that whinnies and makes all sorts of noises.

Micah and Silas making a snowman in the back yard.
Albert and Savannah throwing snowballs at Micah and Jerusha.
Albert, on the last day of the season, went with a friend to hunt. Not ten minutes into it, Albert dropped this buck. You can't beat that.
Poor Bambi.
I finally got a frame for my beautiful oil painting I bought last year.
This is Aunna, (3 month preemie the doctor's didn't think would make it) and is now 2 years old.
This is DJ, another preemie, who, other than some asthmatic issues, is a healthy rambunctious 2 year old.
Silas' bowling shoes were too cute not to take a picture of. We went bowling with Dustin, Amanda and Aunna and Trina and DJ when we took a trip to Salem this fall.
Silas is asking Aunna if she wants some cheerios...
And then proceeds to shove them in her mouth... er... feed them to her.
Oohhhh. Hugs for a fellow NICU buddy.
DJ - Okay, enough hugs already!!!
Silas gets cuddles from Kathy, our ECMO/NICU nurse and now dear friend.
We stay at a hotel that has an indoor pool. Look how tall my 13 year old looks?!?! Is that really my baby? Micah is almost 6 feet tall now.
Squishy, soggy, Daddy hugs. Too much fun.
One last picture before we get out and head for home.
Silas chasing Luke (who was born 2 months later and almost 2 lbs lighter... hard to believe, eh?).
Caleb teaching Joshua how to ride his new motor bike.
Savannah and Silas (with Jasmine, Caleb's daughter, in the background).
Caleb giving Jasmine a ride on Joshua's new bike.
This is one of the reasons I miss living in Lake Creek. The scenery is phenomenal.
After hurricane force winds in the valley, trees fell like toothpicks. This is Caleb's fifth wheel after a tree fell across it.
This is the scene all around Dad and Mom's mountain house.
This is one of the trees that landed alongside the suburban and horse trailer. It caused alot of damage but the vehicle was still drivable as were all their other vehicles (after repairs).
Silas hugging Zion (sister Shahala's daughter) right before crashing to the ground and causing severe emotional distress in his poor little cousin.
