This site was started when Silas was born on 04-10-06. He had complications and was placed on ECMO, a heart/lung bypass machine. He spent his first 7 weeks at Legacy Emanuel NICU in Portland, OR fighting for his life. This is his story of survival and the continuing saga of the Kyne's as told through the eyes of Mom and Grammy. Just a quick note to let everyone know that my nephew is okay; the medication worked and he is recovering from both the pox and MRSA. YEAH! Jerusha and Silas are on the mend as well and Jerusha went back to school today. Let me see... What crisis can I confront next?!?!?

Today is the one year anniversary of the death of Joshua, Becky's son. Miraculously, after nearly 6 months in the NICU, he got to spend a few months at home in the loving care of his mommy before he left us all behind. You will always be remembered, Little Man, and thank-you for the memories of that fabulous smile.

We are now dealing with chicken pox again… Both Jerusha and Silas started breaking out on Wednesday and are just miserable this weekend. They are not my worry, however. My nephew, (brother Caleb’s youngest) is extremely ill with the pox. Unlike my kids and his siblings, Luke has a compromised immune system and woke this morning with a pox bigger than a fifty cent piece and a nasty red line running from it toward the middle of his chest. When his mommy took him to the doctor, they told her they suspect MRSA, a nasty medication resistant staph infection. Please pray that he gets well as quickly as possible and that there will be no lasting side effects from any of this. Also, that everyone else in the house will be protected from this MRSA bug.
